The Carolina Grace, operated by Luxury Yacht Charters on Lake Norman, is 100 feet long and the newest and largest chartered yacht in the area. It helps charities raise money for their causes.

Luxury Yacht Charters has been in business for 17 years and operates out of Kings Point Marina. Their yachts are turn-key venues on Lake Norman that host weddings, corporate and private events.

“A year and a half ago, we started our own 501-(c)(3) called Charters for Charity to help other foundations in the community to raise money,” said Kim Branum, Event Coordinator. “We do this by hosting ticketed cruises in which the proceeds go towards a selected charity, donating our yacht for silent and live auctions and donating services for charitable events so that they do not have to pay for a venue for their events. 10% of all of our for profit business goes to Charters for Charity to cover the expenses we incur for hosting the charity cruises.”

Last year the charters helped the Thomas Davis foundation, OpWalk Carolinas, and Bring it for Braylon, to name a few. They raised over $80,000 for those organizations last summer simply by hosting events in which they were the beneficiaries.

“This year, we already have the Steve Smith Foundation that we are partnering with as well as Cam Newton’s foundation,” said Branum. “We donated the yacht as a live auction item at Cam’s fundraising event last weekend and a 2 hour ‘Cruise with Cam’ went for $10,000. We were thrilled to be able to help with that! Our goal this year is to raise $100,000 to be donated to other organizations.”
