At Two With Nature – Unique Perspectives of The World We Live in, Seen Through The Lenses of Printmaking And Painting

Caroline C. Brown and Diane Pike recreate their own vibrant visions of daily life and personal environments, evoking story and memory through landscape.

Opening show reception is November 6, from 6:00-9:00 PM at Ciel Gallery, 128 E. Park Avenue, Charlotte.  Free and for all ages.

Robert Henri could have been speaking of Caroline C. Brown or Diane Pike when he said, “A palette gives you the opportunity to make continual essays with color.” Both artists share a love of nature and all her colors, a bountiful inspiration in the studio and outside, in oil paints and in hand-pulled prints.

Caroline C. Brown has worked in mixed media painting for many years, embracing all its juicy layers. It was a natural transition to the process of printmaking, graphically abstracting the natural shapes of plants into carved relief prints layered with collage. Her monoprints also grew from the mixed media technique of utilizing stencils and layers, with each piece combining multiple colors and passes through the press.

Diane Pike grew up in Boulder, Colorado where her love affair with the outdoors began. Moving to North Carolina in 2008 opened up a new world in which to paint. Pike’s plein aire and studio paintings push the limits of color, both in nature and in theory, as this award winning artist strives to translate the visual experience to canvas.

Ciel Gallery is a Fine Art Collective representing 30+ local artists working in a wide variety of media. Located at 128 E. Park Avenue, the gallery is open Monday – Saturday, 11:00 – 6:00 PM.
