Great Urban Race Hits Charlotte on Saturday Sept. 29 – Join In

This is where your adventure begins. Great Urban Race will be coming to Charlotte on Saturday, September 29. This year, Great Urban Race will take participants off the beaten path to new, exciting locations within their cities. Teamwork will prove essential in order to complete the race’s various mental and physical challenges that will push participants to their limits and beyond their expectations.

Teams will work together to solve 12 unique clues at local businesses and landmarks, which could include scavenging for random items, deciphering puzzles or completing a physical challenge or game. First, Second, and Third place winners will receive a cash prize, but the top finishers have an additional prize up for grabs. The first 25 teams to complete the race will secure a spot in the National Championship race in Las Vegas for a chance at $10,000.

“Great Urban Race allows the local crowd to partake in a unique and exhilarating adventure,” says Race Director Katherine Keenan. “People looking to get out on a Saturday afternoon need to discover all that Great Urban Race has to offer; it’s an experience like none other!”

For the fourth year in a row, Great Urban Race is thrilled to continue its partnership with St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital┬«, the nation’s top children’s cancer hospital. The St. Jude Heroes program allows Great Urban Race participants to give back while they compete by signing up during registration and securing donations from family and friends. To support each Hero’s cause, Great Urban Race will donate $10 to the hospital for each participant who registers. Throughout the partnership, Great Urban Race’s St. Jude Heroes have raised over $300,000 in support of St. Jude and its fight against childhood cancer.

The cost of the race is $60 per person until Friday, September 28th, and $70 per person on race day. The race is open to everyone; however, an adult must accompany participants under the age of 18. Registration begins at 11 am at Fitzgerald’s Irish Pub, 201 East 5th Street. Race begins at noon.
