Halogen TV and its Founder and General Manager, Becky Henderson, have received three prestigious cable industry awards.
First, Henderson was awarded an elite scholarship by the Women in Cable Telecommunications (WICT). She is one 120 women selected for its “2011 Rising Leaders Program,” a week-long immersion in leadership skills, stress management, wellness and more, funded by a grant from the Walter Kaitz Foundation.
Henderson also received the coveted Multichannel News “40 Under 40” distinction. Editors of Multichannel News annually select 40 movers and shakers under the age of 40 who are helping their companies grow and succeed, while playing an important part in mapping the future of cable and telecommunications. Henderson’s recognition was published in the April 18, 2011 edition of Multichannel News.
Finally, CableFax honored Halogen TV with the Digital Award for Best of the Web – Social Media Campaign for Halogen TV + Charity water: Let’s build a well together; a project that led to the establishment of a well in the Central African Republic that will provide clean water to 250 people for 20 years. This is part of a wider effort to address critical practical issues in Africa and other areas of the world.
“As the architect behind Halogen TV, Becky’s passion is people,” noted Kyle Chowning, VP of Halogen TV. “She found particular inspiration in Mahatma Gandhi’s words, ‘You must be the change you want to see in the world.’ She founded Halogen to motivate people to action. Her vision is that Halogen be a platform that brings a spotlight to key social and moral issues of our time, and encourages social consciousness throughout society.”
Chowning continued, “We are honored and humbled by this recognition from industry peers. These awards validate our efforts as we, along with our programmers and viewers, impact local and global communities. Halogen TV is more than entertainment. It’s where people connect with purpose and with each other. The network and website tell stories that matter to a growing demographic searching for information, inspiration and ideas on how to make a difference where they are, with what they already have.”
Halogen TV is available in the Charlotte-metro area on Time Warner Cable channel 282. Check local listings for programs or visit www.halogentv.com.
