On 08/04/2012 at approximately 10:16 pm, Alvin Price was attempting to cross the 400 block of Eastway Drive. As Mr. Price was in the right northbound lane of travel, he was struck by an oncoming vehicle. After the crash, the vehicle made a u-turn and drove back to the crash scene before leaving the scene of the crash. The vehicle was last seen driving on Eastway Drive towards North Tryon Street.
MEDIC responded to the crash scene and pronounced Alvin Price deceased.
Detectives have been able to identify the suspect vehicle as a 1999-2001 Toyota Solara. The vehicle is red in color and has two doors. The vehicle’s front passenger parking light assembly is damaged and mostly missing. Below is a stock footage of a similar model year vehicle. Anyone with information regarding a 1999-2001 model year Toyota Solara which may have been involved in this crash is asked to call 911 or Crime Stoppers at 704-334-1600.
