In his book “Fighting Parkinson’s…and Winning,” author Howard Shifke brings hope to the millions of people afflicted with the disease. Shifke was diagnosed with the disease, but he decided to cure himself from the disease rather than accept the medical viewpoint that the disease was incurable and that he was destined for a lifetime of suffering.
Shifke had watched his mother suffer with Parkinson’s for 24 years while she followed the Western Medicine treatment plan, and he received his diagnosis two years after her death. However, having watched what had happened with his mother, he decided to take his future in his own hands, forego traditional Parkinson’s medications, and endeavor to cure himself from the disease with his own holistic treatment plan.
In his book, Shifke details what it was like suffering from the disease. He is completely transparent in sharing his daily struggles, not only from a physical perspective, but also how he suffered emotionally and spiritually in fighting the disease.
In opening up about life with the disease, a glimpse at some of his daily physical challenges show a man facing tremors, stiff and rigid muscles, difficulty in walking and balance, and difficulty getting his food to his mouth when eating. His daily emotional and spiritual challenges were just as daunting, including trying to calm an over-thinking mind, having to learn acceptance, dealing with anger and frustration, and having to explore not liking or loving himself, and feeling unworthy and undeserving as a human being.
This book is a must read for anybody with Parkinson’s. It presents the disease from a perspective that you will not find anywhere else. Shifke explains in great detail how he developed his theory of Parkinson’s as well as his methodology for his recovery. He takes the reader on his deeply personal journey of how he suffered, how he worked on his recovery daily, and how he made it through to the other side with a medically documented full recovery.
After his recovery, Shifke has dedicated his life to helping people with Parkinson’s through his coaching of people with the disease and his writing this book.
The book was written to spread the message of hope for people with Parkinson’s, and it delivers that message in no uncertain terms.
Fighting Parkinson’s…and Winning is available through Amazon in paperback and Kindle editions.

  1. My husband who had been diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease for 2 years at the age of 63 had all his symptoms reversed with Ayurveda medicine from naturalherbscentre. com after undergoing their Parkinson’s natural protocol. God Bless all Parkinson’s Caregivers. Stay Strong, take small moments throughout the day to thank yourself, to love your self, and pray to whatever faith, star, spiritual force you believe in and ask for strength. I can personally vouch for these remedy but you would probably need to decide what works best for you.
