Agape Dental Ministry will host its first annual fundraiser and silent auction May 4 at Cornerstone Baptist Church from 3 pm to 5:30 pm in Charlotte. Agape Dental Ministry is a non-profit free dental facility operated by dental professionals who believe everyone deserves a healthy, pain-free smile regardless of income status. The event will help raise money for the organization to continue providing dental care to Mecklenburg County and will feature performances by vocal group The Prince and the Paupers and comedian/magician Matt Fore.
Agape Dental Ministry opened its doors to Mecklenburg County in 2013. Since that time the organization has provided over $2M worth of free dental care to patients unable to afford it. The organization depends upon donations and volunteers to continue providing this service.
“In Mecklenburg County alone over 100,000 residents are living close to or below the poverty line and most do not have dental insurance,” said Elizabeth E. Locklare, Executive Director. “Those unable to afford regular dental care can often live with oral disease and pain that can result in even larger health issues down the line. The work we do helps end this cycle. We are excited to host our first annual fundraiser so we can continue providing these people the care they need and deserve.”
The event will consist of an evening of community, food, drinks, and entertainment. Blumenthal Performing Arts, King Green, local artist Susan Winget and more have donated items to be used in the silent auction that will take place throughout the event. Attendees will also get to check out performances by The Prince and the Paupers and comedic magician Matt Fore. The Prince and the Paupers is a local North Carolina ‘50’s style band that was started by Kenny Shore and Allen Schuyler in 1973. Matt Fore has been performing his special brand of magic plus comedy for more that 24 years. From Carnival Cruise Lines to The Magic Castle in Hollywood, Matt Fore has traveled the country making people laugh.
