The Davidson College Music Department kicks off its 2011-2012 Concert Series on Sunday, Sept. 11, with an encore piano trio performance from Rosemary Furniss, violin, Alan Black, cello, and Dana Protopopescu, piano.
Rosemary Furniss (in photo), who currently serves as Artistic director and Concertmaster of the London Chamber Orchestra, recently moved to the United States with her husband, Christopher Warren-Green, conductor of the Charlotte Symphony Orchestra. She will serve as Artist Associate in Violin at Davidson College.
Alan Black begins his twenty-sixth season as Principal Cellist with the Charlotte Symphony Orchestra. This season, Black strengthens his ties to Davidson College as he assumes a position as Artist Associate in Cello and Chamber Music. Dana Protopopescu, a native of Bucharest, is an active performer and award-winning recording artist. She has worked with notable conductors throughout Europe and performed in many prestigious festivals worldwide.
Their Concert Series performance on September 11, 2011 will feature works by Schubert, Enescu, and Chopin.
