Former Carolina Panthers Eugene Robinson, Mike Rucker, and Jason Baker, former Pittsburgh Steeler and Super Bowl Champion Donnie Shell, as well as founder of UNPACKIN’ it Ministries, Bryce Johnson are joining forces with Rev. Dr. Ed Glover, President of Urban Impact, to encourage and challenge men to be the best leaders that they can be for the next generation at the second ManUp Charlotte conference.

On Saturday, June 1, ManUp will challenge hundreds of men to maximize their impact in their families and to stand in the gap for fatherless children in the city of Charlotte. As many leaders of Charlotte know, fatherlessness is a major issue facing young men and women today.  In fact, as of 2012, 1 out of 3 children in the U.S. are born into fatherless homes. Nearly 90 percent of homeless children are fatherless; 70 percent of juveniles in state-operated institutions come from fatherless homes; 71 percent of all high school dropouts are fatherless, 71 percent of teenage girls who become pregnant are from homes without a father, and the statistics continue.

ManUp originated in the city of Pittsburgh through Urban Impact in 2013 and today it continues to ignite change amongst the lives of fatherless youth.  BringingManUp to Charlotte for the 2nd year is much more than running a one-day conference.  It is a commitment to support and inspire urban ministries in Charlotte that are impacting the lives of fatherless youth on a regular basis.

Men will be able to attend practical breakout sessions in the morning and afternoon led by prominent local pastors that focus on issues such as coaching your children to pursue their dreams, creating love that lasts, growing as a husband and dad, spiritually leading your family, and more.

As a past ManUp attendee shared, “I was reluctant about attending at first, but I must say, the speakers were amazing. I will leave here today a better man, more prepared to focus on being a great father, a better husband to my wife, and encouraging my kids more. Lastly, I am prepared to help become a father to the fatherless kids in my community.”

The conference is recommended for all men ages 15 and up and is $49 per person, which includes a light breakfast and lunch. Doors open at 7:30 am on Saturday, June 1 at Forest Hill Church, South Park and the conference will end at 3:30 pm.  Sponsors include Coca-Cola Consolidated, Chick-fil-A of Charlotte, David Weekley Homes, and UNPACKIN’ it Radio.  For more information or to register, please visit www.ManUpCharlotte.org.  Advanced, online registration closes on May 30th.
