Mecklenburg County government agencies and offices will be closed on Friday, December 24 and Monday, December 27, for Christmas, and on Friday, December 31, for the New Year’s holiday. This includes all units of the Department of Social Services, Tax Office, Elections Office, Register of Deeds Office and the Land Use and Environmental Services Agency.
Health Department: The Health Department will be closed on Friday, December 24, Monday, December 27, and Friday, December 31. Night clinics for Christmas week for both Health Department locations will be moved to Monday, December 20.
Substance Abuse Services Center (Detox): Open 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
DSS Care Line 704 336 CARE (2273): Operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week to receive reports of suspected abuse or neglect of children or elderly or disabled adults.
Charlotte-Mecklenburg Library: All branches will be closed December 24 through 26 and on Saturday, January 1, 2011.
Solid Waste and Recycling: All Solid Waste facilities will be closed on Christmas Day and New Year’s Day. Solid Waste administrative offices and the Foxhole Landfill will be closed on December 24, 27 and 31. Staffed recycling centers and Compost Central will be open on December 24, 27 and 31 with Compost Central closing one-hour early (4:00p.m.) on the 24th and 31st.
Park and Recreation: Administrative offices will be closed on December 24, 27 and 31. Parks are open each day during daylight hours. Other facilities hours are as follows:
(Recreation Centers): Close at 6 pm. on Thursday, December 23, reopening Tuesday, December 28. Close at 6 pm. on December 30 and closed on Friday, December 31.
(Nature Centers): Closed Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.
(Aquatic Center, Ray’s Splash Planet and Marion Diehl): Closed December 24, 27 and 31. These facilities will be open on January 1 and 2, except Marion Diehl closed on Jan.2.
