Mecklenburg COVID-19 Cases Doubling in 3 Days as of March 23

As of March 23, 2020 Mecklenburg County Public Health (MCPH) reported 108 cases of novel coronavirus (COVID-19) among county residents. MCPH will provide routine updates about reported COVID-19 cases to help our community better understand how this pandemic is developing in our county. This information is being sent out for awareness. All future updates will be posted on MeckNC.gov/covid-19.

Highlights of data about the 108 COVID-19 cases reported in Mecklenburg County as of March 23, 2020 include:

  • About half of reported cases were adults ages 20 to 39 years old. Two cases were youth under 19 years old.
  • The sex and racial/ethnic composition of reported cases were similar to the county demographics.
  • Roughly 1 in 5 reported cases were hospitalized due to their COVID-19 infection.
  • Reported cases live throughout the entire county, with at least one case in nearly every zip code. These are only confirmed and reported cases and do not reflect all cases of COVID-19 in any given area.
