City of Charlotte Makes Progress on Affordable Housing Goals

Less than one year after Charlotte City Council reaffirmed in the Community Letter the council’s commitment to the expansion of affordable housing, the city announced Monday that it has achieved 44 percent of council’s goal to create 5,000 affordable housing units in three years. There have been 2,219 affordable housing units completed and committed from January 2016 to August 2017, Housing and Neighborhood Services Director Pam Wideman reported Monday during a special City Council meeting.
