Between April 14-30, 2011, customers who donate a gently used pair of men’s or women’s shoes to either Paul Simon Co. men’s store in Myers Park (1027 Providence Road) and The Village at SouthPark (4300 Sharon Road) will receive $35 off a new pair of Allen Edmonds shoes purchased at these locations. For questions about the program, call Elizabeth Hyland at 704-332-5822, x223.
All donated shoes will be contributed to Jacob’s Ladder’s – a Charlotte non-profit organization that specializes in breaking the cycle of chronic unemployment through job readiness and related services – two “A Perfect Fit” clothing boutiques at its headquarters at 2304 The Plaza and at its new Jacob’s Ladder West location at 2201 Caronia Street.
“We are excited about supporting Jacob’s Ladder Job Center and doing something that brings the community together to help people get a step ahead out of poverty,” said Paul Simon, owner of Paul Simon Co. “Having a professional pair of shoes for an interview can change a job seeker’s life. We encourage people to step up and be a part of that change by bringing in gently used shoes.”
“At Jacob’s Ladder we empower clients to step into success so we are thrilled about this partnership with Paul Simon,” said Steffi Travis, executive director of Jacob’s Ladder. “Shoes are among our most needed items in our ‘A Perfect Fit’ boutiques, which provide clients with the right professional attire to make a good first impression and succeed in the job search.”
